What Are the Effects of Brainwave Entrainment?

If you want to understand the effects of brainwave entrainment, you first need to understand how the brain operates. Your brain consists two hemispheres, a left and a right hemisphere. The left hemisphere is practical and logical, while the right hemisphere is non-logical, abstract, and creative. The vast majority of people tend to use one hemisphere at a time, depending on what they are doing at the time. For example, if you are working on a mathematical problem, you would be mostly using your left side. If you are drawing a picture, on the other hand, you would likely be using the right hemisphere of your brain. You can see that both hemispheres are continuously interacting and in fact, can be engaged at the same time as well.

What are the effects of brainwave entrainment?

Both the left and right hemispheres of the brain are connected by a “bridge”. This bridge can in every sense of the word be “exercised” and strengthened to make it physically larger and better able to send more data, thoughts and feedback between the two hemispheres. Thus you are making this bridge more efficient by merging the left and right hemisphere, and allowing them to work together., This, in turn, increases your mental fitness. Using the principle of entrainment, you can synchronize your brain to specific frequencies. The theory is simple. As an example, if there are several pendulum clocks sitting on a table, and you randomly set each one so it swings at different speeds, you will find that, eventually, all the pendulums on every clock will become synchronized. At the end of the day they will all be swinging together in complete unison. To further explain this phenomenon would take additional time and space then is available here. However, the important thing here, is that the brain, when given repeated commands will - just like the pendulum - eventually swing in unison with that command.
